The Aldebaran Park harness racing stallions Skyvalley NZ and Aldebaran Eagle USA left the winners of two of the four divisions of the Vicbred Platinum Homegrown Classic at Melton in December.
Alrighty, a two-year-old gelding by Skyvalley, was responsible for a terrific performance in winning his $25,000 Final, while Winnie’s Dream (by Aldebaran Eagle) and Kyvalley Misty (by Skyvalley) quinellaed the $25,000 three-year-old fillies’ decider.
It was Winnie’s Dream’s third success in the space of 12 days!
Alrighty, who has won three of his six starts to date and looks a potential topliner, was one of 22 individual winners sired by Skyvalley in December and January.
Heading the vanguard was the bonny mare Golden Sunset, whose three victories for the month – including a 1:57.1 lifetime best effort at Albion Park – lifted her stake tally to beyond $100,000 and she became the 22nd progeny of Skyvalley to reach the magical six figure mark. Golden Sunset lowered her mark to 1:56.9 when she registered her 11th victory at Albion Park in January.
Patched, a Victorian bred son of Skyvalley, provided another highlight for his sire when he captured the Group 2 $50,000 Gloucester Park Trotters Cup from a 30 metre handicap. It was the gelding’s 22nd success and boosted his earnings to more than $240,000.
Skyvalley was also represented by a pair of ‘new’ two-year-old winners in Kiss At Midnight (Bendigo) and Old Dominion (Horsham) and the three-year-old winners Attracted and Sky Lindy (both Shepparton), Maximez (Ballarat) and Ildefonso (Cranbourne).
Other Skyvalley winners for December/January were Sellune (Pinjarra twice and Gloucester Park), Timmy Turtle NZ 1:58.9 (Melton), Kyvalley Finn (Albion Park), Madge Egan and Castles In The Sky (both Bendigo), Floating Mountain (Maryborough), Kyvalley Honeybunny 1:58.2, Mac Flick and Watch And Act (all Shepparton), Old Villa Boy 1:59.1 (Horsham), Kota Bharu (Geelong) and Night Sky (Charlton).
Skyvalley also ranks as the damsire of the Melton and Bendigo victor Im Bobby 1:57, the Shepparton three-year-old winner Majestic Monarch, Midnite Muscle (Bendigo) and Straight To The Top (Cobram).
In January Aldebaran Eagle was represented by winners on both sides of the Tasman including the exciting Aldebaran Park bred Lair Of The Eagle (ex Never Never Land, by Skyvalley), a winner at Melton in 1:56.6 and Charlton in 1:58.4.
The three-year-olds Huxham Chubb (Maryborough) and Mystery Fred (Stawell), the Aldebaran Park bred Aldebaran Demi (ex Aldebaran Maori), a winner at Bendigo in 2:00, and Eagle Hanover (Otaki, New Zealand) were among winners sired by Aldebaran Eagle in December and January.
