Unbeaten in seven harness racing starts to date, the David Kennedy-trained Blazing Home (Rock N Roll Heaven) will attempt to extend his unbeaten winning sequence when he steps out at Bendigo on Friday night (Dec. 30).
Blazing Home will line up in the $25,000 Captain Crunch Vicbred Super Series Silver Pace following his most recent victory in the Group 3 MIA Breeders Plate at Leeton on Boxing Day night.
Before that the Rock N Roll Heaven gelding captured the Victoria Youthful Stakes at Melton in a stunning 1:51.9 mile rate over 1720 metres.
Driver Jackson Painting said he was rueing the fact the exciting youngster was forced to miss the heats of the Vicbred series.
āHe had a foot abscess and we had to scratch him,ā Painting said.
The main target for Blazing Home now is the $200,000 NSW Derby at Menangle on March 4.
Another NSW raider, Im Blinging It, a last-start winner of the Group 3 NSW Breeders Challenge Eastern Regional Final at Newcastle, is considered the logical danger to Blazing Home.
The Art Major Vicbred Super Series Silver for two-year-old fillies looks a wide open affair with the three leading fancies ā Spring Blue, Chirripo and The Huntress ā drawn on the second row behind the mobile.
Chirripo and The Huntress both finished second in their respective heats, while Spring Blue ran third.
The Ride High Vicbred Super Series Silver for three-year-old colts and geldings pits the Emma Stewart stablemates Offyarocka Crocker and Idealrockidealroll against the Kerryn Manning-trained Jet Rock.
Offyarocka Crocker had no luck in the heat and semi-final of the Vicbred and, despite drawing the outside seven gate, looms as the horse to beat.
The South Australian owned, Victorian trained Elegant, from the Geoff Webster barn, is the top seed in the Always B Miki Silver for three-year-old fillies. The winner of nine races including the Southern Cross Final, Elegant looks to have an edge in class and experience on her rivals.
Rich Beauty, a finalist in the Breeders Crown and a semi-finalist in the Vicbred, is the major threat.
The Adelaide visitor Atreacherous, who has won six of her nine starts this season, is the leading fancy in the Vincent Silver for four-year-old mares, while the Rock N Roll Heaven Silver for four-year-old males affords the very smart Yambukian, a finalist in the Vicbred as a three-year-old, an opportunity to return to the winners’ list.
