Prominent horseman Mario Borg registered a personal harness racing milestone during the weekend.
With four runners in the fourth event at Globe Derby on Saturday night, Borg trained the first three across the line.
Although he has prepared quinellas, it is the only time Borg’s stable has filled a trifecta.
“It was a great result,” Borg said. “If I wanted to be greedy, I could say the first four home would be nicer, but I don’t want to be greedy.
“I gave them all a half decent chance and they raced up to expectations.
“The only downside was I pulled the wrong rein by finishing third. What makes it worse, is I reckon I could have won, but it was one of my stablemates which cost me when it checked me.”
Driven by Gaita Pullicino, Harry Ovens (Bettor’s Delight) led home the team as he scored by three metres from Soho Tsunami. Rebel With A Grin was two metres away third.
HARRY OVENS REPLAY
Boasting six wins and two placings from his last 10 starts, Harry Ovens rated 1:56.2 over 1800 metres.
With no major plans in mind for the son of Bettors Delight, Borg will “find suitable races” as they are programmed.
“He is in terrific form, but I’m not getting carried away,” Borg said. “I’ll just keep looking to find suitable races for him and hope he can keep going the way he is.”
