Hardy eight-year-old pacer Bulletproof Boy (Art Official) topped $500,000 in harness racing stake earnings after taking out the DH Steel Free For All at Melton.Ā
The Scott Ewen trained and driven pacer lobbed along mid field in the running line behind the leader and $3 favorite Outlaw Man before latching onto the back of Ideal Escape for a three wide trail into the race with 500 metres to travel.Ā
Bulletproof Boy showed his customary stout finishing burst to reel in Outlaw Man in the home straight scoring by four metres in a mile rate of 1:55.8.Ā

The win was Bulletproof Boys 37th of his career and Ewen marveled at the horseās consistency.Ā
āHeās as honest as they come and never runs a bad race and thatās what I love about him,ā Ewen said.Ā
Ewen said the race panned out perfectly for Bulletproof Boy after landing two horses back in the running line.Ā
āIf they did back off I would have nicked around and sat outside them because if they ran a quick half itās hard to catch them, but they ran it pretty honest so I sat back and he rounded them up,ā he said.Ā
Bulletproof Boy contested last yearās Inter Dominion in Victoria however Ewen said he opted to stay home in preference to an Inter Dominion campaign in Brisbane.Ā
āI thought about it but itās a long trip up to Queensland two days up and two days home and he can gobble things up here while the others are away which is good,ā he said.Ā Ā
āI wish I had a couple more like him.āĀ Ā
