Burwood Stud, one of Queensland’s premier standardbred breeding nurseries, has an outstanding record in the Garrard’s Redcliffe Yearling Sale 2YO Classic.
The Darling Downs-based stud has bred, prepared or stood the sire of no less than eight of the 16 Sales Classic winners in Teddy Disco (2021), Governor Jujon (2019), Heart Of Change (2016), Leo’s Best (2015), Mathilda Diventa (2014), Designer Style (2013), Couldntresist (2012) and Cha Ching Chaching (2011).
This year Burwood Stud are preparing 14 youngsters – nine colts and five fillies – for themselves and clients at the Garrard’s Redcliffe Yearling Sale, to be held at the Redcliffe Paceway on Sunday, April 6.
And, with one exception, their draft are products of colonial bred stallions.

The Denning’s are preparing two colts for their son Jonathon and wife Megan, one an Ultimate Machete from a daughter of the QBred Triad winner Impish Princess (Lot 3) and the other from the final crop of the star Kiwi pacer Franco Nelson (Lot 13).
North Maclean identity Laurie Feehley has nominated two colts, one a Colt Thirty One half-brother to the Redcliffe Sales Classic and Derby victor Ellis Street (Lot 12) and the other a Changeover colt from the good racemare Just Seduce Me NZ (Lot 38).
The Burwood Stud clients Darren Wearne, Darren Falla and the LaSpina family all have single representation at the sale.
The LaSpina’s entry is a Huntsville colt from the 100 percent producer Soeur De Lyse (Lot 37), Wearne has entered a The Storm Inside colt from a 1:56 winner as Lot 28, while Falla has a Poster Boy half-sister to the Sales Classic placegetter Our Sweet Jess (Lot 39).
