Group 1 winning reinsman Jack Callaghan made a strong bid for the state drivers’ premiership lead last week.
The 20-year-old drove four winners at Penrith last Thursday putting him within one win from equalling the premiership lead.
Cameron Hart, who after the weekend had 114 wins in NSW to his credit for the season, secures the top spot.
Callaghan’s quartet of wins last Thursday gave him 113 wins.
Callaghan has six drives at Menangle today (Aug. 23) while Hart has seven drives.
Meanwhile in the training ranks, KerryAnn Morris holds the premiership lead with 90 wins while Bathurst horseman Bernie Hewitt is closing in with 71 NSW winners this season.
