Italian bred trotter Callmethebreeze (Trixton) made amends for his defeat in the Australian Trotting Grand Prix when he annihilated his harness racing rivals in the Group 1 Yabby Dam Farms Hammerhead Trotters Mile at Menangle.Ā
Sent out a $1.85 favorite, Callmethebreeze speared across from his wide draw to lead inside the first 100 metres.Ā
The Anton Golino trained six-year- oldās task was made easier when his main danger Arcee Phoenix ($4.60) galloped his way out of contention shortly after the start as did fellow Victorians Im Ready Jet and Keayang Chucky.Ā
Callmethebreeze wasnāt pressured during the middle stages and once driver Nathan Jack extracted the ear plugs at the top of the home straight the son of Trixton exploded away to score by 13 metres from Constantinople in a mile rate of 1:53.3.Ā
Jack conceded the indiscretions of several main dangers played into his hands.Ā
āWe had it pretty casual once a few of the more fancied ones galloped and made it easier and if we had to run time we were going to but we werenāt here to run time we were here to win the race,ā Jack said.Ā
āI couldnāt shake the plugs for a minute he was quite casual and we might have to go to a set of pull downs,ā he said.Ā
CALLMETHEBREEZE REPLAY
Jack said the Yabby Dam Farms owned trotter should prove hard to beat in next monthāsĀ TAB Trot Slot at Cambridge.Ā
āHeāll head to New Zealand now and if he gets a barrier he will be hard to beat there too,ā he said.Ā
Jack is looking forward to taking on Just Believe in New Zealand.Ā
āIāve always said that Iām not scared of Just Believe, he is a great horse and I respect him but this horse is quite a good horse too,ā he said.Ā
