Class prevailed when the French bred trotter Callmethebreeze (Trixton) made a triumphant harness racing return to the racetrack at Melton.
First up since April and making his debut for the Andy Gath stable, Callmethebreeze settled mid field on the pegs in the small field before Kate Gath pulled out and led up the outside horses with 900 metres to travel.
Despite being pushed three wide around the home turn, Callmethebreeze ($1.35 fav) knuckled down to his task in admirable fashion down the home straight and scored running away by five metres from One Over All in a mile rate of 1:58.8.

Gath said the race wasn’t really run to suit the favorite.
“The way the race was run wasn’t ideal and he didn’t look like winning down the back,” Gath said.
Gath said the son of Trixton was the consummate racetrack performer.
“He is the perfect racehorse,” he said.
“Kate said he just drops the bit and when you ask him to go he just goes.”
Gath said there isn’t a detailed roadmap of the six-year- old’s future racing itinerary.
“Really it’s a case of all of the above,” he said.
Gath did indicate Callmethebreeze will not be making the trip north for the upcoming Inter Dominion in Sydney.
“No, it’s pretty definite that he won’t be going to Sydney for the Inter Dominion and while he will be nominated for New Zealand the conditions of a standing start two-mile race in the Dominion Handicap probably don’t suit him,” he said.
Gath said the Group 1 Bill Collins Mile is on the horse’s radar along with the likely defence of the Great Southern Star series in which he won both the heat and final last year.
