Cantfindabettorman (Sweet Lou) made amends for failing to qualify for the big harness racing final when he took out the TAB Inter Dominion Pacers Consolation at Menangle Park last night.

Confidently driven by Chris Alford Cantfindabettorman was trapped wide early before taking on leader I Break The Line who eventually surrendered the lead. Once in front Cantfindabettorman seemed to be very relaxed in the lead and he kicked clear on straightening never looked in any danger to record a comfortable 4 metre win over the fast finishing Perfect Stride with Tenzing Bromac having a torrid run to hang on for third placing.

Driver Chris Alford was relieved after the event.

“It’s a shame that he didn’t make the Final. Pete and Isobel Walsh (Trainer) have done a great job getting him ready.”  I let him roll on and he was travelling at the top of the straight and he was strong at the line.

He’s a perfect little horse to drive. And he can sprint home”.

Alford indicated that Cantfindabettorman probably needs a little freshening up before returning. At this stage he would be ideally placed to run in the forthcoming Victorian country cups circuit starting in January with feature cup races at Bendigo, Shepparton, Ballarat and Geelong.

Trainer Peter Walsh stated before the race that he was not right in last week’s heats at Menangle but he was confident that he would do better in the Consolation.

Outside the winner the eye catching performance was from the West Australian Tenzing Bromac who was caught wide for the best part of the first lap before driver Deni Roberts allowed him to race outside the leader.

Despite the hard run, Tenzing Bromac showed great heart while Perfect Stride who was back in the field finished strongly without looking likely to trouble the winner. Cantfindabettorman returned a mile rate of 1.53.8 for the 2300 metres. And in running his last quarter in 26.8 seconds ensured that his rivals would not be able to catch him.
