The highly regarded sire Capt Midnight notched his first success as a sire when filly Daisypea scored an impressive harness racing win in the Prydes Easifeed Pace for two year olds at Hobart last night.
At her debut at Hobart a fortnight ago Daisypea finished runner up but last night she had an early trail before driver Mitch Ford let her go on leaving the back straight. She powered away in the home straight to record a most impressive 25 metre win in 1.59.7.

Dylan Langley foreman son of trainer Tammy Langley explained:
“We had her mother Belle of Brooklyn (who won 11 races). We broke this filly in, she was a gem to do so and never had a bad gait.”
“She’s a little bit green but she will get better. All we know is that she is a very good filly.”
Daisypea may have one more run before having a short spell and then she will come back for the rest of the season where it is hoped that she is ready to run in the classics.
Capt Midnight (Captaintreacherous) was a speedy youngster who won eight races with a best time of 1.48.6.

Capt Midnight is a descendant of the grand broodmare Romola as is his own sire Captaintreacherous and the sire of his dam American Ideal. This family has arguably been the most productive in the American stud book for successful sire and millionaire race performers.
He stood two seasons at Cobbity Park Stud and in his first season in 2021 he served 90 mares there including Belle of Brooklyn the dam of Daisypea.
At the Bathurst Gold Crown for fillies on Wednesday night he will be represented by first starter Bara Aubrey who is out of winning race mare Regalbara.
At the Nutrien Bathurst Yearling Sale on March 30 there are three yearlings by Capt Midnight,– two fillies and one colt.
Lot 43, on account of Golden Gait Stud, is a filly from the unraced Mach Three mare Contessa Stride and this filly is a half-sister to Bling It Up, which has won 18 races and $75,879, and to Mister Quirk which is a five-time winner of $55,019 and was runner-up in a NSW Breeders Challenge Blue Final as a 2yo.
Lot 48, on account of Matthew McCaffrey, is a colt by Capt Midnight from the New Zealand bred Real Desire mare Real Star which won eight races.
Real Star’s first foal Gracenava has a record of 1:55.0 with her eight wins yielding $80,735 after placing third at Redcliffe last Thursday.
The third yearling by Capt Midnight to go under the hammer at Bathurst will be Lot 49 on account of Golden Gait Stud and it is a filly out of the six-time winning Rock N Roll Heaven mare Priority To Party.
Priority To Party is a half-sister to five winners including Ideal Priority which is a producer of six winners including the 2016 Australian 2yo Filly Pacer of the Year and 2017 Australian 3yo filly Pacer of the Year Petacular which retired as a winner of 18 races and $454,083.
Ideal Priority is also the dam of the Group One Bathurst Gold Chalice winner Idyllic, which won 12 and $226,079, and last season’s six-time winning 3yo Prioritise.
