Captaintreacherous gelding takes $150,000 2YO final

Only a short margin separated first and second in the APG Record Breaking Gold Bullion Series 32 2YO C&G Final (Gr1) run tonight at Menangle.

After a photo, harness racing victory went to the Captaintreacherous colt Captain Ritchie who managed to beat Sweetheart Bart by a short half head.

Captain Ritchie was quick out of the mobile for driver Gavin Fitzpatrick, easing to three deep on the fence behind Sweetheart Bart in the trail and the favourite My Ultimate Snowy who was intent on leading.

In the straight My Ultimate Snowy faded quickly and Captain Ritchie and Sweetheart Bart ran clear in a dour struggle to the line.

Captain Ritchie was finally awarded the victory in 1:52.8 for trainer Paul Fitzpatrick.
