Catch A Wave (Captaintreacherous) is back home in Victoria after a stunning harness racing raid in the west, and connections are planning a return sooner than many would have expected.
The superstar pacer won the Group 1 double – The Nullarbor slot race and Fremantle Cup – at Gloucester Park through April, and plans are in place to take him back for the elite-level WA Pacing Cup in early November.
Trainer Andy Gath told TrotsVision.com.au on Saturday night that he would skip the Inter Dominion carnival in New South Wales with Catch A Wave and opt for a return to Western Australia instead.
āItās a place a lot of people donāt travel to because we know how hard it is,ā he said.
āItās virtually like going to a different country ā the racingās completely different, itās a flat half-mile track, thereās very aggressive drivers who push you out anytime they want and drive at a pretty fast tempo.
āThe WA Cup is about three weeks before the Inter Dominion and weāll probably bypass the Inter Dominion.ā
Catch A Waveās latest heroics took his winnings past $1.9million, with 22 victories from 38 starts.
