CATCH A Wave (Captaintreacherous) headed to the spelling paddock on a winning note when he turned the harness racing Breeders Crown Championship (4YO Entires & Geldings) into a one horse race at Melton.
The Andy Gath trained four-year-old had little trouble holding the front running from the pole, and with his main danger Captain Ravishing caught leading the outside horses, those who took the $1.20 on offer had little cause for concern.
Catch A Wave threw a 54 sec last 800 at his rivals scoring by 19 metres from Captain Ravishing in a mile rate of 1:54.5.
Kate Gath said she was pleased Catch A Wave was able to salute for the first time since winning at Melton in August.
āIt was his race to lose and itās good to have him back in the winners list,ā Kate Gath said after the race.

Gath said the four-year-old was probably better suited driven with a sit.
āIt was a good job and I was really happy with that, heās put some terrific runs on the board,ā she said.
āHe probably loves to chase them down more than being out in front but he was too good tonight,ā he said.
Gath said Catch A Wave will be spelled.
āThere are so races here locally in Victoria next year, weāll probably send him for a little spell now,ā she said.
