The brilliant, young Captaintreacherous horse Catch The Fire 1:46.8 ($1.5 million), who is standing this season at the Somerset Farms stud, of Pete and Chantal McMullen, was represented by his first two-year-old winner when Princess Vanessa emerged successful in a heat of the Kentucky Proud Series on Sunday, June 2.

Catch The Fire

The filly, who is only the second starter sired by Catch The Fire, is out of the Well Said mare Lyonsprincessruby (1:54).

Catch The Fire’s first crop in North America are two-year-old and there are excellent reports from leading trainers about his stock.

The fastest ever entire son of Captaintreacherous, Catch The Fire took a two-year-old record of 1:49.8, a three-year-old mark of 1:49.2 and a lifetime record of 1:46.8 at five.

He won 18 races including the Adios Stake, Dan Patch Invitational, USA Pacing Championship (twice), the TVG Free-for-all (twice), Kentucky Sires Stakes 2YO Championship and a heat of the Little Brown Jug and finished third in the Final.

Catch The Fire served 88 mares in his first season in Queensland last year.

Meanwhile, Catch The Fire’s world champion studmate A Rocknroll Dance sired the very impressive winner of the $30,600 final of the 2YO NSW Bred Series at Menangle last Saturday in Dance With Carmer (1:55.4).

A Rocknroll Dance is again in the Australian Top Ten sires’ list with his progeny earning $1.9million already this season.
