Cattlewash babes burning up the tracks in North America

The Somebeachsomewhere horse Cattlewash 1:46.8 ($1.3million), whose frozen semen is available to Australian breeders from Yirribee Stud, Wagga (NSW), is leaving smart harness racing two-year-olds from his second North American crop, the oldest of which are now three years.

The fastest pacer of the year in 2020, Cattlewash has already sired seven qualifying winners and several placegetters at the first two-year-old trials conducted in Pennsylvania and Ontario.

At The Meadows, Pennsylvania on Tuesday (June 10), Cattlewash was represented by the winners Cattle Drive (1:58.2) and the filly Let’s Justin Turtle (1:58.4).

Meanwhile, at Woodbine Mohawk Park in Canada, Cattlewash sired three two-year-old colt winners in Tilthecowscomehome (1:58.4), No Waitlist (1:59.6) and Je Ne Sais Quoi (1:59.8) and the two-year-old fillies Malicia Speed (1:59.8) and Playsomethingsweet (2:00.8).

Cattlewash’s first North American crop of two-year-olds last year banked $1,043,625, an average of almost $40,000 per starter!

From 35 eligible three-year-olds, Cattlewash has already produced 24 winners, including four with $250,000 or more and eight with more than $100,000 in earnings.

His list of impressive progeny include:

Smooth Dream (c) – 1:49.2, Reckless Abandon (f) – 1:50, TH Summer Lovin (f) – 1:50.2, Manolete (c) – 1:50.3, Worklifebalance (f) – 1:50.4, Power Code (c) – 1:51.2, McCusker (c) – 1:51.2 and Beach Babe (f) – 1:52.

Over the past four years, Cattlewash has bred more mares in North America than any other stallion. He is fully booked again this season at Tara Hills Stud in Ontario.

A particularly well bred horse, Cattlewash is by Somebeachsomewhere from the 2021 USA Broodmare of the Year Road Bet (1:52), the dam also of the USA 2YO Filly of the Year and Breeders Crown champion Niki Hill 1:48.8 ($1.3million) and the Stakes winners Tarrific 1:49.8 ($710,000) and Earthwindfire 1:50.4 ($630,000).
