Cattlewash (1:46.8), the fastest entire son of the great Somebeachsomewhere and who is now available from Yirribee Pacing Stud, Wagga (NSW), has made rather a spectacular start to his stud career in North America.
The world champion three-year-old left 38 foals from his first crop and 22 have raced and 10 have emerged successful with eight in 2:00.
Power Code, a two-year-old colt, became his fastest performer when he scored in 1:54.4 at Woodbine Mohawk Park, Ontario last week.
The brilliantly fast Warrawee Needy (1:46.8), a studmate of Cattlewash, continues to churn out the winners.
The highly promising three-year-old Fly Banner, who was bred and raised at Yirribee, completed a clean sweep of the Emerging Stars Series at Globe Derby Park when he led throughout in the Final on Saturday night. The gelding has won five of his 11 starts this season.
Warrawee Needy was represented by a winning double at Bathurst with the three-year-old Misterfourthousand (1:56.8) and Meraki (1:57), while other recent winners sired by him include the three-year-old Our Goat (1:57.5), Warrawee Flyer (1:57.5) and Saveeon.
Warrawee Needy has sired 68 winners from 110 Australian-bred starters for a creditable average of $23,600 per starter.
