Charlton drivers notch up a century

Ryan Sanderson with his father Shane.

Ryan Sanderson and Denbeigh Wade both live and work in Charlton and have reached significant milestones in their harness racing careers within weeks of each other.

Sanderson chalked up his 100th victory in the sulky aboard Vince Vallelonga-trained Art Of Sheng Li at Mildura on Tuesday night, with Wade achieving the feat aboard Mymatethomo – trained by her partner Michael Gadsden – at Terang on February 19.

The 18-year-old Sanderson only moved to Victoria from New South Wales last year, but has had a big impact on the driving ranks here in this state with his century of winners coming in less than 860 career races.

His biggest victory so far came in the 2021 Group 3 Touch Merchant Trotters Free For All when he steered Travel Bug to a long-odds triumph at Bendigo.

Wadeā€™s record currently stands at 101 winners from 1393 starters, with the 28-year-oldā€™s standout success aboard Maorishadow in Group 2 Vicbred Platinum Trotting Mares Sprint Championship Final of 2020.
