To win the Peter Sullivan Memorial trot race at Penrith on Sunday night will be sentimental for Hawkesbury harness racing trainer Troy Williams.
Sullivan was passionate about his trotters and never missed a meeting a Penrith prior to his passing in October 2020.
Williams spent a lot of time with Sullivan in his later years and if one of his two chances in the memorial race were to win, it would be a highlight for Williams.
However, it is not going to be easy for Williams’ starters Lord Lohki and In The Valley as they are both starting off a 30m handicap.
Williams is having his best season to date and has trained 41 winners for the term – more than four times better than his previous top seasons – and is one of the leading trainers at Penrith.
The meeting at Penrith on Sunday was meant to go ahead last Thursday, however, with the wet weather the meeting was rescheduled.
