Chief Steward heads to NSW

Chief Steward Brett Day has informed Harness Racing Victoria (HRV) of his decision to step away from his current role in October to take up a new opportunity with Harness Racing New South Wales (HRNSW).

Brett Day

Day has been a steward since 2008, with roles in New South Wales thoroughbreds and Queensland harness racing before joining HRV in 2011.

He has been Chief Steward since June 2018 and Deputy Chief Steward prior to this.

ā€œThe timing is right from a family perspective to move back closer to family and Iā€™m looking forward to taking up a position with HRNSW,ā€ Day said.

ā€œI thank the harness racing industry in Victoria for its cooperation and HRV for its ongoing support of me.ā€

HRV Chief Executive Dayle Brown wished Day well in his move interstate.

ā€œWhile weā€™re saddened to be losing Brett, we wish him and his family the very best in their move back to NSW,ā€ Brown said.

ā€œBrettā€™s leadership and professionalism are two qualities that will certainly be missed.ā€

Day will finish at HRV in October following the Victoria Cup.
