Classic winning dams adorn Bathurst catalogue

More than two-thirds of the dams represented in the 2022 Bathurst Gold Crown Yearling Sale to be held on Sunday, March 20 at the Bathurst Paceway are race-winning mares and 50 per cent have taken 2:00 records.

They include the Oaks winners Scent and Second Dollar, the NSW Breeders Challenge Blue winner Taylor’s Reason, the NZ Franklin Breeders Cup winner Fight Fire With Fire, the Victoria Harness Breeders 3YO Classic winners Highview Ebony and Our Ladylight, Nuclear Reality (NSW Country Series), the Breeders Crown semi-final winner Listen To The Rhythm and the APG heat winner Gloria Lombo.

The Fortunate Son who has a half-brother in the sale as Lot 14.

The dams listed in the catalogue have produced 97 individual winners and they have won 637 races between them.

Among the offering are siblings to horses of the calibre of the NZ Sires Stakes 3YO Championship winner My Willow, The Fortunate Son (1:49.4), the Bathurst Gold Tiara winner Makes Every Scents, the Edgar Tatlow winners Composing and Governor Art, the QBred Triad and Queensland Breeders Classic winner Get In The Groove, Taylor’s Reason (NSW Breeders Challenge Blue 3YO), the NSW Breeders Challenge heat and semi winners Lettucefib and Veracity Red, the SA Golden Nursery victor Major Cruiser, Mind The Wire (QLD Lord Mayor’s Cup) and the Bathurst Sale Graduate Pace victors Lyrical Genius and Our Sam’s Home.

The grand-dams of the yearlings have left a string of top performers such as the 3YO of the Year Sir Galvinator, My Cherie (Vic. Oaks), the Breeders Crown champions Keppel Bay, Ameretto, Lombo Adreamin and Miss Moonlite, the dual Derby winner Emma’s Only, Maudie (NSW Pink Bonnet), the NSW Sires Stakes winner Conrod Straight, It Is I (Vic. Legends), Dream About Me (NSW Breeders Plate), Marquess De Posh (NSW Oaks), the dual Vicbred champion Blatant Lie, the APG Final winners Esprit De Kayjay and Mr Nickel, Life Of Luxury ($476,604), Waitfornoone (NZ Queen of Hearts) and Good Lookin Girl (NSW Ladyship Mile).
