A placing in the fifth and final round of the Pony Trots Victoria Hygain Metropolitan Championship and barnstorming victory in the senior drivers’ race has capped a brilliant harness racing campaign for Cohen Tindale’s pride and joy Buddy Major.
Tindale and his pony just had to complete the course to secure victory in the metro series on Saturday night at Tabcorp Park, and an eye-catching third behind Charlie Walters and The Brawler saw the pair finish on 72 points.
That left them 16 points clear of runner-up Darcie Fisher and Light The Fuse, with The Brawler third a further eight back.
Tindale, who is the son of prominent Berringa trainers Beau and Ann-Jeanette, then watched on as Ryan Duffy partnered Buddy Major to a stunning victory in the senior drivers’ race.
Off the vision entering the straight, Buddy Major sprouted wings to grab Jordan Chibnall and The Cisco Kid in the shadows of the post.
While the Hygain Metropolitan Championships is now complete, the Pony Trots Victoria season continues at Geelong this Friday.
