Exciting three year old New Zealand bred Cyclone Jordy (Art Major) maintained his unbeaten Australian record with his tenth successive win in the $35,000 Listed Five Twenty Equine Breeding 3YO Battle of Bunbury at the Bunbury circuit on Saturday evening.

Seen as a prelude to the West Australian Derby to be run on October 31 at Gloucester Park the field attracted a strong group of three year olds and the Hall stable were represented by Cyclone Jordy and Chase Me who was unbeaten in four Australian appearances.
But the only other runner at single odds was the well performed Lincoln Lou from the Michael Young stable.
CYCLONE JORDY SEP 20 REPLAY
To the surprise of some Cyclone Jordy was not driven out early for pace and actually settled one out as the field sorted out with Lincoln Lou holding the early lead. He was pressured by Captain Stirling but mid way Gary Hall Jnr allowed Cyclone Jordy to stride around the field and although being three wide a for while he eventually found the lead.
The field was stacked up and all eyes were on Cyclone Jordy as was in front turning for home. Lincoln Lou pulled out and for a fleeting moment looked as if he might issue a challenge. But Cyclone Jordy found another gear and he stretched out for a most impressive win by five metres from Lincoln Lou with outsider Control The Room in third.
The gelding rated 1.56.7 with a final quarter in a neat 27 seconds.
On what he has undertaken to date and sweeping all before him, Cyclone Jordy looks to have the Derby at his mercy barring any incidents. It will be interesting if the Hall stable contemplate a trip to the Eastern states as he would be a highlight appearing at any track.
The Hall stable also presented the unbeaten four year old Franco Motu (Always B Miki) who came off 40 metres to win the standing start pace. He’s destined to win better races as the season gathers momentum.
