The much improved Dangerous (Sweet Lou) showed his recent harness racing efforts have been no fluke when got up in the final strides to take out in the Inter Dominion Pacing Championship Third round Heat 8 at Menangle Park last night.
Drawn out in barrier 6Ā Dangerous didnāt have the early pace to take on the fast starters Ardens Ace and Don Lou.Ā
Don Lou eventually took up the running but then Deni Roberts abroad the West Australian star Minstrel moved up to race outside the leader which then allowed Ryan Sanderson on Dangerous to secure the perfect trail one out and one back. The other well supported runner Nerano was able to take the trail.Ā
Minstrel put the pressure on Don Lou on the final bend with Dangerous poised right behind and Nerano looking for an inside run.Ā
Minstrel went to the front but Dangerous issued his challenge half way down the straight and in a driving finish he prevailed by a neck over a gallant Minstrel with Terry running yet another good race to take out third.
DANGEROUS REPLAY
Driver Ryan Sanderson was pleased after the event.
āItās a great feeling. Great to get a run in a race like this. We can now look forward to the Final. Heās had some great runs here at Menangle without getting too much luck. Itās a credit to Dad (Shane) and the team to keep him up going good. Heās chosen the right tine to come good and this series has been so nice and its given me a lot of confidence to drive him. I think with the right run we could go close (in the Final). Iām incredibly lucky with some good owners and Dad has looked after us. Itās great to repay them with a win like thisā.
Minstrel lost no admirers with his narrow loss while Terry could well sneak into the final on the strength of his minor placing.Ā
Dangerous has proven to be the find of the series having run close placings in his previous two heats.Ā
