The consistent mare Delightful Tammy (Bettors Delight) showed great resilience and determination to outstay her rivals in an entertaining Ladbrokes Italian Cup at Globe Derby last night.

The raging favourite was former West Australian Bellezza Nera and from barrier 4 his driver Danielle Hill had little opposition in taking the black gelding to the front. By contrast Delightful Tammy was wide early and her driver David Smith worked three wide to sit outside the leader.
Maharaj had the one out and one back trail while Honeybun was settled back to the rear.
Bellezza Nera put the pressure on in the final back straight but Delightful Tammy stuck to her task and the pair dashed well clear of the others. An epic finish was coming up and even though Delightful Tammy had by far the hardest run she poked her head in front near the line to win by half a neck from Bellezza Nera with Maharaj a distant third just in front of Springfield Affair.
DELIGHTFUL TAMMY REPLAY 15 FEB
Delightful Tammy is trained by Toby Ryan at Roseworthy who prepares the mare for locals Adam, Ben and Terry Cormack.

The mare has always displayed plenty of ability right through her career and as a three year old she was successful in the SAHRC Derby, SA Oaks and the Southern Cross 3YO fillies final all at Globe Derby. She also won the Vicbred Silver final for three-year-old fillies at Bendigo.
It was a big night for trainer Toby Ryan as he combined with David Smith to take out the opening event the Ladbrokes Surge Odds Pace with Lildabldooya (He’s Watching) who snatched victory from Sportsflight on the line.
The evening also saw four heats of the Kevin and Kay Seymour Pot of Gold and the $25,000 final will be held this Saturday night at Globe Derby.
