Buyers at this year’s National Mixed Sale will be eligible for a whole range of benefits put up for the upcoming APG Race and Sale season. Weanlings and yearlings purchased this weekend will be eligible to sustain for one of the lucrative APG sales harness racing series across Australia along with the opportunity for buyers to gain discounted entries into the 2025 APG Yearling Sales.
There are 30 weanlings and 17 yearlings in the mixed sale, which opens for bidding tomorrow (Friday, August 2 at midday) and closes on Sunday (August 4, closing from 5pm).
The APG two and three-year-old classic series run in Perth, Melbourne, Sydney and Queensland and is normally only open to horse purchased and sustained through the APG live yearling sales.
Yearlings bought at the 2024 mixed sale will be eligible to be sustained for next year’s 2YO sale series races. They will also be in the running for rich 3YO finals the following year.
Weanlings will be eligible to be sustained for the 2026 & 2027 Series.
APG General Manager Anthony Essex said the weanling and yearling buyers are not the only ones to get benefits this year.
“We are looking to give buyers extra incentives, we know economic times are tough and APG wants to offer people more ways to ease the burden within the industry. Those who purchase a weanling or yearling in our online sale will have the chance to sustain for their respective APG race series, at a special rate,” Essex said.
“They can pay in full, the $2750, when they pay for the weanling/yearling or pay in four instalments totalling $3300.”
The first payment of $660 will be due in August, the second payment of $660 in October, the third payment of $660 is due in December and the final payment of $1320 will be in February 2025.
Essex continues about the discounts and benefits available to buyers this weekend, “Weanlings bought at the mixed sale will also be give a 50% discount on entry fees if the new owner decides to enter his recent purchase into the APG’s 2025 yearling sales”
“Additionally, for those who purchase a broodmare in the National Mixed Sale, the purchaser will receive a half price entry fee for any of the APG 2025 yearling sales.”
Stabling & other fees will still apply, and the entry must be in the broodmare purchaser’s name. The offer is non-transferable.
