Don Hugo (Art Major) issued an ominous warning for his harness racing rivals when he outclassed his rivals in the Ultra Air Cup at Menangle on Saturday night.

The race was sponsored by Don Hugo’s owner Tony Licastro.
Fresh from his success in the Blacks A Fake a fortnight ago at Albion Park, Don Hugo was drawn out wide but was still a solid favourite. However there was plenty of support for the ex New Zealander Rakero Rocket now in the stables of Jason Grimson.
Rakero Rocket bounded out of the mobile to take up the early running and for the first half of the event, Don Hugo was caught outside the leader with I Break The Line behind the leader. However driver Luke McCarthy decided to go for the lead and he crossed over without too much fuss.
But Don Hugo continued to put on the pressure while in front and he ran 27 seconds for the third quarter. Rakero Rebel tried to stay in touch but Don Hugo was in another gear and he burned down the home straight in a final quarter of 26 seconds to run out an effortless win over Rakero Rebel and I Break The Line for an overall time of 1.48.6.
DON HUGO DEC 20 REPLAY
Don Hugo is being aimed for the Miracle Mile where connections are hoping he will repeat his success earlier in the year.

Luke McCarthy was satisfied following the event.
He’s really kicked off here since winning the Eureka. He loves this track with the Inter Dominion and Miracle Mile. He’s had an incredible 16 months. Tony was sponsoring the event tonight and bringing along a lot of friends and asked if we could consider running him if he pulled up OK after Queensland. So it was great for Tony and his family and friends that he could come out and win the Ultra Cup.
Over the last two to three seasons Leap To Fame has been the benchmark champion. The next level was not there, and all of a sudden they’re there. It makes for competitive racing. And there’s going to be some very good races over the 12 months ahead. We’re really looking forward to be part of the Miracle Mile carnival again.
So we’re looking forward to these good races coming up.
