Harness Racing Australia released last week a FAQ regarding the ‘Stallion Registration Fee’ for the upcoming breeding season.
What is a Stallion Registration? (Excerpt)
Registration may be suspended or cancelled if the applicant or other persons connected with the horse engage in conduct that is detrimental or damaging to the industry or disparaging of HRA, its members, executive and staff.
So now we have a situation where HRA is desperate to shut down any Stallion owners’ criticism of their controversial Stallion Tax.
Should valuable but declining Stallion owners dare to express factual, non defamatory, disparaging opinions HRA has threatened to suspend or cancel their stallion registrations.
This threat may well be interpreted as both silencing freedom of speech and worse still bullying by HRA management and Board members.
If all stallion owners ignored this threat and were found guilty of failing to adhere to HRA demands how many stallions would then become available to breeders?
HRA seems to be hell bent on destroying their relationship with industry participants.
Perhaps the only way for this to be resolved and for the industry to have any prospects of renewal is for a fresh start.
Of course his would mean requesting Kelly and his Board gang to politely resign.
