Rock N Roll Heaven gelding Rock N Roll Doo stamped his authority on the Australian harness racing scene winning tonight’s (Oct. 8) $300,000 Victoria Cup at Melton.
The four-year-old sat parked in the Group 1 to leave in his wake a stunning line up of pacers in a rate of 1:54 for the 2240m feature.
For the record, Honolua Bay (Somebeachsomewhere) and Better Eclipse (Betterthancheddar) finished second and third respectively.
It was a career highlight for trainer-driver Michael Stanley.
“This is what we all get up out of bed for,” said Stanley.
“To get here and win a Victoria Cup is amazing.
“This is my biggest win by far.
“I’ve been extremely lucky to win some Group 1’s.
“Monetary wise this isn’t the biggest but by prestige it is.”
HE'S A ROCK STAR!

Rock N Roll Doo has won his last three starts that include the Kilmore Cup and Caduceus Classic.
“He’s won his last two races against this high quality with his earplugs in and running through the line,” said Stanley.
“We were happy to sit outside the leader (tonight) because we felt we have the most versatile and strongest horse in the race.
“He’s been a work in process but mentally, it is coming to him, he travelled so strong in the race tonight.
“Now he’s a switched on racehorse.”
This latest victory pushed his record to 12 wins and seven placings in 29 starts and earnings of $395,150.
Connections of Rock N Roll Do have discussed a possible trip to New Zealand for the New Zealand Cup.
“That’s the dream,” said Stanley.
“You don’t get horses like this very often.
“It will be no easy feat but we are up for a challenge and he’s earned his right to go have a crack.”
As for Stanley, the 41-year-old horseman has seven Group 1 wins to his name as a trainer.
