A colt by exciting, young sire Downbytheseaside brought the top price of $26,000 at the Bathurst Gold Crown Yearling Sale conducted by Graeme Board & Co last Sunday (March 20).
The half-brother to four winners and a member of the same family as Divisive, the colt was offered by Doug and Janet Mooreās Brooklyn Lodge and bought by prominent breeder and owner Rod Smith.
Two colts by Modern Art, both offered by Lochend Stud principal Paul Carmody, one out of the Listed winner Our Ladylight NZ and the other from the NSW Oaks winner Scent NZ realised $25,000 and $22,000 respectively.
The highest price paid for a filly was $18,000 for the Captaintreacherous-Catch The Breeze NZ filly, consigned by Parkes breeder Tony Dumesny and bought by Geoff and Anne Tilbrook.
A service to the Rocknroll Hanover horse The Storm Inside, donated by Alabar Bloodstock to aid injured reinsman Josh Powderly, was secured by Bathurst horsewoman Wendy Turnbull for $3,400.
Of the 53 lots offered, 44 were sold for a gross of $478,500, an average of $10,875. The colts averaged $12,350 and the fillies $9,645.
