Sidmouth-based harness racing trainer Mark Jones is having one of his best seasons in recent times, and he will be hoping that continues when he takes three runners to Launceston on Friday night (Aug.19).

His best winning chance appears to be His Dream Lives On (Four Starzzz Shark), who has drawn barrier seven in race seven.

The gelding has had 19 starts this season for only one win but has been ultra-consistent with nine placings.

His Dream Lives On goes into the race off a last start second behind in-form mare Seventhreeohseven, when defeated 1.8m after racing outside the leader.

Biglittlesis, a three-year-old daughter of Lincoln Royal, resumes from a spell in race five.

The filly hasn’t raced since 6 February, when she galloped soon after the start at Carrick. She has had one trial in preparation for her first-up assignment, finishing fifth at Carrick on 23 July.

Aunty Bessy (Artistic Fella), in race three, is a newcomer to the Jones stable.

The winner of two races from 69 starts was winless last season and hasn’t raced since boxing night in Devonport.

Jones has prepared seven winners and nine minor placings from 38 starters this season.

All three horses on Friday night will be driven by Mark’s son Malcom, who is also having his best season in the sulky with seven wins.

It’s been an exciting few days for Mark, who owns Kosimo, who broke through for his first metropolitan win at Melton on Saturday night, recording a slick mile rate of 1m 53.3s.

There have been many Tasmanian’s racing at Melton regularly in recent weeks.

Another to join the list is Kivik, who was trained in Tasmania by Rachel Williams to six wins and has been transferred to the Victorian satellite stable of Michael Laugher.

The Courage Under Fire gelding has drawn the pole in the last race on Saturday night.
