It was not pretty to watch however harness racing drivers and their horses that were involved last night’s race fall at Penrith were able to walk away from the incident.
The worst of them all was trainer-driver Michael Dawson who has a suspected broken elbow.
He was driving his pacer Special Pony and was dislodged when coming into contact with horsewoman KerryAnn Morris and her runner Letsplayuni around the home turn.
Ironically, Turner won the race with her other pacer Miss Daytona which was driven by her husband Robert Morris.
“I’m all good luckily just a bit sore,” said Morris.
“I could have driven my other horses on the night but Rob didn’t want me to and I wished I did, because the more I waited around the more stiff I felt.
“The horse is okay as well, he sustained a deep cut to his knee but it didn’t go into the joint which is good.
“He will just have a bit of time off racing.
“Things got a little bit tight and poor Michael was behind me and copped it the worst, he broke his elbow and is waiting to have surgery.
“The fall didn’t look nice and we were all lucky to come out of it the way we did.”
