While former Tasmanian, Victorian-based driver Jack Laugher gets to the end of his Tasmanian stay, he again claimed multiple wins on a Tasmanian program, with a winning treble in Launceston on Sunday night.

.

Three-year-old Still Hungry gelding, Coniston ($1.55 fav), completed a winning hat-trick, when claiming the Clifford James Pace (1680m), taking his tally to six wins from 10 career starts.

Trained by Jack’s father, Michael, Coniston began well to lead before proving too good for his rivals late to score by 4.3m in 1:57.0s.

“He went well again,” said Jack.

“Everyone I talk to about him, I tell them the same thing, that he works really well at home, but he doesn’t look as impressive on race day, he sort of doesn’t really race away from them.

“But since he has been down here, I think he has improved, both with his work at home, and his manners and that, and he is maturing into a good horse.”

Jack’s other two winners came for the Rodney Ashwood stable.

Jack partnered recent Granny Smith placegetter Chenin Beach ($3.20 fav) to victory in the King Fillies & Mares Series (2200m).

“I thought she could win. I just drove her the same as we did in the Granny Smith. I tried to do a little bit of work on her out of the gate in the Beautide, but it didn’t work out well.

“It was a similar field to the Granny Smith tonight, except the winner wasn’t in it.”

Their other winner came with True Image, who broke through for his maiden win in the Impartial Stakes (1680m).

“He had the draw, and he had been going pretty good. Rodney (Ashwood) is going to tip them both out now.”

The win of True Image was the first leg of a double for breeder Brooke Hammond. She also bred Hungry Hippo ($1.07 fav), who won later in the night.
