The Harness Racing Australia Executive met this week and agreed on some details around the formal call for Expressions of Interest from June 1.
Importantly, all applicants seeking a slot will be provided an opportunity to detail how they will promote the event and the broader sport of harness racing.
“This event will be its greatest success with everyone working collaboratively,” HRA CEO Andrew Kelly said. “More generally, this is an unprecedented event that will be talked about 24 hours a day, seven days a week and 365 days a year. The talk started straight after the launch a few weeks back and has kept growing since. We want that to continue.”
An Independent panel will be appointed to assess all applications for slots and make recommendations back to the HRA Executive. The marketing, integrity and legal components of all applications will be considered.
Those successful in securing a slot will have to commit to a three-year deal and an upfront payment of $300,000, covering the $100,000 per year per slot.
The first running of The TAB Eureka will be at Club Menangle on September 2, next year.
