Mandy Pascoe’s Ningana Park is pinning their faith on the fairer sex at the Australian Pacing Gold SA Yearling Sale at Magic Millions, Morphettville on Sunday, March 23.

The professional Birdwood-based training and breeding establishment, conducted by Pascoe, daughter Samantha Hill and her husband Wayne, is preparing 10 youngsters on behalf of three clients and all are fillies.
“It’s the first time that I’ve ever had just the one sex at a sale,” Mandy, who has been prepping yearlings for over 30 years, said.
Six of the yearlings have been consigned by Geoff Easom’s Wyndown Stud, long-time supporters of the SA yearling sale and one of the most successful breeders in the State.
The first filly to go under the hammer is Lot 510, a product of the millionaire pacer Mel Mara and the Modern Art mare Modern Madam (1:57.8), whose dam, Hope Eternal, a Southern Cross placegetter, left four in 2:00 including Abstract Art 1:54.5 ($107,872) and the Vicbred heat winner Artichoke.
Lot 512, a filly by the emerging sire Raging Bull, is out of the Western Terror mare Nevada Esmeralda (1:57.7), a sister to Nevada Blackjack 1:57.3 ($85,354) and a half-sister to the Golden Nursery placegetter Nevada Roulette.
Nevada Roulette herself is the dam of Lot 514, a big, strong filly from the first crop of the USA Breeders Crown champion and Canadian Horse of the Year Century Farroh. She’s a half-sister to last year’s Southern Cross 2YO Fillies’ Final runner-up Machete Roulette (1:58.9).
Lot 518, a daughter of the leading sire Always B Miki and one of only two fillies in the sale by the double millionaire, ranks as a half-sister to the Southern Cross 3YO Consolation and Melton victor Mister Cheese (1:53.7). Her grand-dam, Dancercize, won heats of the SA Sires Stakes at two and three and finished runner-up in the 3YO Final.
The good producer Rosie Robust, the dam of four sub 2:00 winners including Rosiano (1:55.9), figures as the grand-dam of Lot 520, a filly by the dual Vicbred champion Guaranteed out of the Rocknroll Hanover mare Rocknroll Rose.
Completing the Wyndown Stud consignment is Lot 523, a lovely brown filly by the exciting, young Somebeachsomewhere horse Stay Hungry from the Western Terror mare Tiddly Winx (1:57.7) and the first of her produce.
Tiddly Winx, who won six races, is a daughter of the Southern Cross 3YO Final runner-up Android (1:58.1), who is a half-sister to six sub 2:00 performers including Marty Major 1:50.7 ($139,594) and the Southern Cross placegetter Major Reason 1:52.3 ($96,100).
Ningana Park is preparing three fillies for successful Glencoe breeder-owner Peter Medhurst, two of which belong to the same family.
Lot 501, a lovely bay filly by champion sire Rock N Roll Heaven, is out of the Somebeachsomewhere mare Beach Side (1:58.2), a daughter of the top flight racemare Thorninmyside and thus a member of the family which produced the Southern Cross winners King Grin and Catch A Bouquet.
Thorninmyside won 22 races and $160,666 in stakes including the SA Oaks and the Southern Cross series as a two, three and four-year-old and at the stud left eight winners headed up by the Southern Cross heat and semi winner Jax Navarro.
Lot 524, a product of the Art Major horse Ride High and one of the second crop of the superstar pacer, ranks as a half-sister to the Southern Cross heat winner Bee Gees Bandit 1:53.8 ($137,743) and the Final placegetters Maffioso Girl ($98,253) and Royal Jacquard.
Catch A Bouquet, the grand-dam of the filly, was a half-sister to Thorninmyside, the second dam of Lot 501.
The other filly from the Medhurst entry is Lot 505, by Stay Hungry out of the Rocknroll Hanover mare Fiona Rocks, a sibling to the 2023 Southern Cross 2YO Final and Vicbred Silver winner No Notthebuttons (1:55.9).
She’s a close relative of the great NZ racemare Millwood Nike, a winner of six Group 1’s and $690,932 and named the NZ 2YO Filly, 3YO Filly and Horse of the Year.
Ningana Park is also preparing Lot 526, a filly by the eight-time premier juvenile sire Art Major and his only representative at the sale.
She is out of the smart racemare and Australian Oaks placegetter Ymbro Toto 1:55.6 ($92,685), the dam of last season’s two-year-old winner and Southern Cross finalist Imposter Boy (1:59.5).
The filly is bred on the same Art Major-Bettor’s Delight cross as the Inter Dominion hero Don Hugo, Merlin and Our Princess Tiffany.
