Art Major, who has now commenced his twentieth Stud season in the Southern Hemisphere, never fails to sire an outstanding harness racing juvenile year after year.Ā
For A Reason 1.49.4 and Renaissance Man 1.53.1 appeared from his first downunder crop.Ā
Now from his sixteenth crop emerges a powerful looking 2 year old gelding with a big motor – that gelding named Cyclone Jordy.Ā
He commenced his racing in his Country of birth , New Zealand, and from 5 starts won 3 of them including the Young Guns Cardigan Bay Stakes at Alexandra Park on 3rd May.Ā
Cyclone Jordy was then sold for a rumoured large six figure sum to clients of the Gary Hall stable in WA.Ā Last Friday night at Gloucester Park he gave his new owners an instant return on their investment when a demonstrative winner of the $150,000 Group One Golden Slipper Stakes.Ā Although drawing the ace which at Gloucester Park is a huge advantage, he gave Gary Hall Jnr an armchair drive and promises to add to the ever growing list of Art Major superstar male horses.Ā
CYCLONE JORDY REPLAY
This win extended his record to 7 starts, 5 wins and earnings of $179,926.Ā
It is no surprise that this Jordy has massive athletic ability.Ā Art Major won over $3 million on the racetrack more than 20 years ago, whist his Dam Cyclone Kate 1.50.3 , by Mach Three , won 21 of her 60 career starts and banked $360,349.Ā
Cyclone Jordy is her third foal and her first colt foal.Ā If he hadnāt been gelded his pedigree suggests a breeding career might have beckoned as his third Dam Erin Brockovich is a full sister to the champion racehorse and Sire Courage Under Fire. This pedigree was recently further enhanced with the win of Don Hugo in the $2 million Eureka race.Ā
As good as the win of Cyclone Jordy was, so was the run of the runner up ā the petite filly named Reinette. The daughter of Vincent was one of only two fillies in the 12 horse field.Ā
She was used very hard off the mobile from her horror 8 draw to challenge for the early lead.Ā When that wasnāt available she was able to slot into a nice position and then finished strongly over the concluding 300 metres to finish comfortably in second position.Ā
Reinette has now won $187,406 in her debut season from 11 starts.Ā She is the second foal from a Somebeachsomewhere mare and was bred in WA by Boyanup based breeder ā Ginger ā Roche.Ā
Art Major also sired another three winners over the weekend ;Ā
- Demon BlueĀ –Ā a 2 year old gelding was a very easy winner at Addington on Friday night in 1.56.4.Ā
- Shes FullofspiritĀ –Ā a 3 year old filly from a Mach Three mare came from the rear to win at Albion Park on Saturday night.Ā
- Major MothĀ –Ā the 6 year old led all the way in the Group Two Kilmore Cup to take his earnings to $391,349.Ā
