Mount Gambier trainer Steven Fennell is edging closer to a century of career harness racing wins after producing a training treble at his home track on Tuesday night.

The trio of victories—Spook Crocker, Go Jack Crocker, and Case Forty Eight—lifted Fennell’s career tally to 98 winners, putting the milestone well within reach.
Spook Crocker and Go Jack Crocker were bred by Adelaide horseman Gary Crocker under his Walk Proud banner and are raced in partnership with former Mount Gambier President Phil Wood. Both horses were previously prepared by Samantha Hill, while Case Forty Eight was formerly trained by Jim Baker.
All three winners were expertly handled by Mark Phillips, who recently celebrated his own entry into the “100 Club.” Phillips now sits on 103 career wins, highlighted by back-to-back Mount Gambier Gold Cups—first with Springfield Affair in 2023, and again with Hez All Rock.
Fennell’s home-track treble followed a training double at Hamilton on Sunday, courtesy of Go Jack Crocker and Elite Molly, capping a highly productive week for the stable.
Mount Gambier’s next meeting is scheduled for February 3.
