Hezatreacherous (Captaintreacherous) staved off all the challenges in the long Menangle home straight when he chalked up his fourth consecutive harness racing win in the NSW Breeders Challenge (2YO Colts &n Geldings) Semi Final.

Robbie Morris sooled the son of Captaintreacherous to the lead from his favorable draw and was able to steady the tempo with a 30.7 second quarter ‘breather’ before releasing the reins around the home turn.

At various stages inside the final 200 metres it appeared Hezatreacherous ($6.50) was about to be reeled in by a wall of challenges however the leader refused to yield,  holding on to score by a head from Sanchez.

A margin of a neck separated the first four horses across the line a slick 26.7 last 400 metres.

Morris said he was always confident of holding out his rivals in the home straight.

“He’s a big dopey type and is a bit lazy but he is strong and tries,” Morris said.

“It was lucky he saw the horse coming through on the inside and he got going again,” he said.

Morris said Hezatreacherous’ gate speed is a huge asset.

“He has got great manners,” he said.

“He comes out of the gate quickly and then he comes back straight underneath me so you can put him anywhere in a race which is great.”

The Bernie Hewitt trained and driven Jungle Dragon ($21) scored an upset win in the second Semi Final.

Jungle Lord was camped on the back of the two favorites Fate Awaits and My Ultimate Barney before Hewitt pulled out to stake a challenge on straightening.

Once in the clear, the son of Fear The Dragon sprinted quickly to put the race beyond doubt in scoring by five metres in a mile rate of 1:52.3.
