First two-year-old winner

The Aldebaran Park bred and raised Aldebaran Tucker (Helpisontheway USA-Aldebaran Takara) won the first two-year-old trotters’ race for the season at Bendigo. The gelding led from go to whoa to win by 30 metres.

He was one of six Aldebaran Park bred winners in March. 

The others were Aldebaran Zeus (Muscle Hill USA-Zoia Boko Swe), a winner in 1:55.1 at Melton, the dual Menangle winner Aldebaran Jensen (Aldebaran Eagle USA-Endsino), the Gawler track record breaker Aldebaran Dexta (Aldebaran Eagle USA-Aldebaran Deegan NZ), Southwind Chloe (Southwind Frank USA-Aldebaran Crumpet) and Abbie (Majestic Son Ca-Aldebaran Peggy).

Our resident sire Skyvalley NZ continues to churn out the winners. He sired eight winners in March to lift his seasonal tally to 18 and he is now third on the all aged sires’ list.

Among Skyvalley’s winners were the three-year-old Sky Spirit, the 1:59.3 Melton winner Kyvalleyhoneybunny, Golden Sunset (Albion Park) who won in 1.59.7, Patched, Old Villa Boy (1:59.6), El Bravo, Mac Flick and Kyvalley Anthony.

Skyvalley NZ also ranks as the damsire of the winners Im Bobby 1:55.5 (Melton), Ridethelightning (1:59.9), One Pinevale Hill and Abbie.

Besides Aldebaran Jensen and Aldebaran Dexta, the defunct Aldebaran Eagle USA, the sire of 31 winners from 43 Australian-bred starters, was represented by the Globe Derby Park maiden victor Casino Hustler.

In other Stud news, Aldebaran Park has confirmed its Slot in the TAB Slot Race at Cambridge, NZ to be held on April 4. Arcee Phoenix will be our representative, and we look forward with anticipation to a big performance from this horse who we took last year and remain quietly confident that he can deliver a victory from barrier 4 in the $600,000 event.

Melbourne Yearling Sales

The Nutrien Equine Yearling Sales in Melbourne on Sunday, April 13 sees Aldebaran Park preparing 16 lots – with all yearlings now in the preparation phase and all in the yearling barns at Aldebaran Park.

Lot 234: Aldebaran Jericho – Bay Colt – Muscle Mass USA-Endsino-Angus Hall USA

A big, strong colt with a great attitude and looks to match his inquisitiveness, he’s by The Locomotive’s sire Muscle Mass and one of the last Australian crop of the Muscles Yankee horse. The colt is a half-brother to the $100,000 winner Aldebaran Jensen, being out of the $180,000 winning Vicbred Super Series and Holmfield winner Endsino, a sister to the Trotters Cup winners Hatchback. His grand-dam Jauriol won four Group 1 races including the NSW Derby and Oaks, Victoria Oaks and The Redwood and was the Australian 2YO and 3YO Trotter of the Year

The colt is the first foal of a Muscle Hill mare who is out of the 1:57 winning Cantab Hall mare Aldebaran Malibu. The colt belongs to a starstudded American family including the Breeders Crown champions Musical Victory and Lookout Victory and the $800,000 earner Musical Rhythm
