The New Zealand-bred, North American-based Flaming Flutter, whose frozen semen is available to Australian breeders this season, was an outstanding racehorse with brilliant speed and dour staying ability.

He amassed stake earnings of $879,694.

Flaming Flutter began his career as a two-year-old in NZ, setting an Australian mile record of 1:53.9 at Menangle and winning heats of the Breeders Crown and NZ Sires Stakes.

As a three-year-old he won five of his eight starts including the SA Derby (beating Lennytheshark) and the Reg Withers Classic at Kilmore.

After winning a further seven races at four and $111,489, Flaming Flutter really came into his own as a five-year-old, competing with great distinction in open company.

He beat all but Beautide in the 2015 Inter Dominion Grand Final as well as placings in the SA Pacing Cup, Breeders Crown and Kilmore and Cranbourne Cups.

Flaming Flutter finished a close third in the Inter Grand Final at Gloucester Park in 2015 and followed up by winning the SA Pacing Cup.

He continued to compete strongly in free-for-all class, winning at Melton, Menangle and Gloucester Park before being exported to North America in 2020.

He earned $85,109 in his adopted country and lowered his lifetime mark to 1:49.2 at his North American debut.

Flaming Flutter won at all distances from 1609 to 2680 metres, defeating such top pacers as Lennytheshark, Terror To Love, For A Reason, Blazin N Cullen, Bitobliss and Smudge Bromac.

A son of the incomparable Bettor’s Delight, whose sons as sires are now making an impact, Flaming Flutter belongs to one of Australasia’s fastest moving maternal families.

His dam, Twice As Hot (by In The Pocket) left 11 foals for eight winners including Two Times Bettor ($222,000) and Fiamma ($105,000) and is the grand-dam of $100,000+ winners Cyclone Banner and Typhoon Banner.

The second dam, the 2019 NZ Broodmare of the Year Twice As Good, produced nine winners including cup class pacers in Waitfornoone, Fight Fire With Fire, Mark Dennis and St Barts and is the grand-dam of the former NZ mares’ mile record holder Elle Mac ($600,000).

Flaming Flutter’s stud fee is $2,000 payable on live foal.
