Veteran Wallaroo (NSW) horseman Frank O’Sullivan has a knack for producing top flight harness racing youngsters and is a long time supporter of the APG sale and race series.
Madrid, Catchme, Pretty Inpink, Apollo Greed, Look Sharp, Miss Ex, Jailbird, Chime Bay, Buck Fifty and Manrock are just some of the hundreds of winners bred or developed by Frank over four decades in the sport.
“From the last 20 horses that I’ve bred or raced there’s been 10 two-year-old winners,” O’Sullivan stated.
O’Sullivan and his wife Sue will be offering four yearlings – two colts and two fillies – at the Australian Pacing Gold Sydney sale at Warwick Farm on Sunday, February 16.
The consignment includes close relatives of Madrid, Pretty In Pink and Apollo Greed.
Lot 230 is a bay colt by the young Captaintreacherous horse Capt Midnight out of Miss Peudiepie (1:55.9), a half-sister to the NSW Breeders Challenge and APG Gold Bullion winner Madrid 1:50.2 ($408,000), now racing successfully in America.
“He’s a nice colt who should go early,” O’Sullivan said.
The other colt is Lot 207, one of the first commercial crop of the Australian 2YO Colt of the Year Be Happy Mach out of Flowers (1:59.8), a half-sister to the dam of Madrid.
Both colts belong to the same family as the NSW Sires Stakes champion Catchme, the Sires Stakes Final placegetter Manrock and the multiple cups winner Jailbird.
The first of the two fillies is Lot 203, a daughter of Shartin’s sire Tintin In America from the successful Life Sign mare Brigade Queen. She’s a half-sister to three winners including Tingiringi, who took a record of 1:53.9 at two and was placed in the APG Final and Raith Memorial.
Another half-sister in Most Triumphant (1:53.7) won five races as a two and three-year-old and ran third in the APG Gold Bullion 2YO Final.
Lot 227, a big, long striding filly by the emerging Bettor’s Delight horse Ultimate Machete, is the second foal from Milk, a half-sister to the Breeders Crown placegetter Babyitscold (1:55.3).
The filly’s third dam, Pretty Inpink (1:56.8), won 15 races and $103,492 in stakes and left 11 winners – eight inside 2:00 – and four $100,000 earners including Hit And Giggle 1:49.4 ($218,040).
“She’s a great paddock pacer,” Frank said.
