One-time harness racing favourite Frankie Ferocious (Captaintreacherous) is primed to shake-up TAB Eureka betting markets once again at Albion Park on Saturday night.
The Chariots Of Fire winner has endured a torrid Queensland Constellations campaign so far, but trainer Jason Grimson expects him to turn it around in the $53,040 Group 3 4YO Championship (2138m).
And Grimson revealed Frankie Ferocious would stay on in Queensland after this week for the upcoming Triad series.
āI know his form doesnāt read any good, but heās still flying, I can assure you,ā he said.
āHe ran himself into the ground first-up and then got the flat tyre last time.
āI canāt fault his work and everything says youāll see the best of him this week.ā
Grimsonās confidence will shine through to Cam Hartās driving tactics.
āThereās no going back at the start this week. I think weāll light him and go forward,ā Grimson said.
Frankie Ferocious sparkled in Menangle and Albion Park trial wins before returning from a spell with a tiring ninth.
He then copped the flat tyre early in the Group 1 Rising Sun on July 13 and finished 11th, almost 40m from winner Wisper A Secret, who is one of his key rivals again this week.
In a hot race, the Chantal Turpin-trained Wisper A Secret is $2 favourite from gate four, ahead of Frankie Ferocious ($5.50).
The race has huge TAB Eureka ramifications with three confirmed slot runners engaged – Frankie Ferocious (TAB), Captains Knock (Cordina Racing) and Free Thinker (Racing Queensland).
Others like Wisper A Secret, Sure Thing Captain and For Real Life will be out to grab the attention of the remaining slot holders.
Effectively, only two slot holders remain with Tasracing committing its slot to the winner of Saturday weekās $80,000 Beautide in Hobart.
So, that leaves Team Zav (Danny and Jo Zavitsanos) and Kevin and Kay Seymour.
