French Fries (Captaintreacherous) showed a welcome return to form when he surprised his more fancied harness racing rivals to a determined win in the Group 1 $153,000 Qbred Triad Final for three year old colts and geldings at Albion Park on Saturday evening.

It was a confident drive by Nathan Dawson who from the second line whipped around the field after a lap to race outside the leader and favourite Sinabun.
Sinabun was made to do plenty of work in the lead but he had an easier run than French Fries.
Udderly Sweet enjoyed the run of the race just behind the leader while the other well backed runner Our Sweet Delight was mid field one out.
French Fries put down the gauntlet on the final bend and he moved past Sinabun. Udderly Sweet came off the rails in hot pursuit but French Fries showed too much class. At the finish he had just under nine metres to spare over Udderly Sweet with Sinabun holding on for third.
FRENCH FRIES AUG 16 REPLAY
French Fries had been somewhat patchy in his performances but he put the writing on the wall when he won his heat but in the final he looked even more impressive returning a mile rate of 1.53.6.

Trainer driver Trent Dawson wasn’t that surprised with French Fries performance.
“it’s nice for a change with a bad draw getting our way and it worked out really good”.
“On paper when you draw four or five, he’s been racing in the carnival and he’s had awkward draws and we ended up in bad spots”.
“He was due one. They came a bit early and it made up for today. I was pretty confident during the week. I thought we had something on them”.
“He can go for a holiday I think and we’ll deal with him next year”.
