Master harness racing trainer Andy Gath admits he is still digesting the unexpected addition of three
Group 1 winning trotters to his Long Forest stables.
Yabby Dam Farms principal Pat Driscoll this week transferred the Italian bred Call Me The Breeze (Trixton) along with Im Ready Jet (Quaker Jet) and Revelstoke (Quaker Jet) to Gath following his split with long time trainer Anton Golino.
“I was pretty fortunate to get the phone call from Pat and to have a world class trotter in Call Me The Breeze lob on your doorstep is exciting and I look forward to getting him to the racetrack,” Gath said.
“And to have Im Ready Jet and Revelstoke as well, they have both been great mares over the journey and hopefully we can get the job done with them,” he said.
Gath said the trio aren’t far off the racetrack.
“They have all arrived here in great order as you would expect,” he said.
“Anton (Golino) has had a lot of success with these horses and hopefully we can carry it on for Pat into the future.”
Gath is unsure if Call Me The Breeze will make the trip across the Tasman to contest New Zealand’s most iconic trotting race, the $400,000 Renwick Farms Dominion in November.
“I have to speak with Pat but obviously the nominations for the Dominion Handicap close soon,” he said.
“It’s a standing start and Call Me The Breeze has never had a standing start.”
Gath indicated both Im Ready Jet and Revelstoke could be seen in action as early as next week.
“Call Me The Breeze will have another couple of trials but there’s mares trot next week which both Im Ready Jet and Revelstoke can go in,” he said.
“They haven’t been here long so I’m just getting used to them and working my through where they are at.”
