GoFundMe established to help Taylah in fight for life

A GoFundMe page has been established to help young horsewoman Taylah Schembri in the fight of her life.

The harness racing community is rallying around another of its own, with more than $14,000 already raised to help young horsewoman Taylah Schembri in the fight of her life.

The 23-year-old has oesophageal cancer and Aussie, Julie and Willie Mifsud have established a GoFundMe page to assist in her battle.

Schembri is a well-known participant in Victoria, having driven in more than 150 races since getting her driverā€™s licence in the 2014-15 season.

Her one and only win came at Warragul in 2015 with a horse by the name of Longtan Tigerman.

ā€œShe is currently being fed via tubes into her nose and straight to her stomach as she can’t tolerate normal food,ā€ the Mifsud family wrote on the GoFundMe page.

ā€œShe is a terrific young girl whom we have known all her life.

ā€œShe has just settled down with the job she loved and her world has been shattered.

ā€œTaylah has been involved with the harness racing game most of her life. She started out driving in the pony trots then moved onto her lifelong dream of driving in races.

ā€œTaylah has had many rounds of chemotherapy and has a lot more to follow to try and decrease the size of her tumour.

ā€œWe are appealing to anyone who can spare a couple of dollars, please dig deep as she would be ever grateful for any support we can give her.ā€
