Menangle Park-based harness racing trainer Jason Grimson has had a knack of finding the perfect horse to contest the Inter Dominion series.

Having won two Grand Finals, Grimson is aiming at possibly a third and fourth Inter Dominion success with a strong team aimed at the 2024 series that starts at Newcastle this Friday night.

Grimson has four horses chasing the TAB Inter Dominion Pacing Championship and one hopeful in the TAB Inter Dominion Trotting Championship.

This year Grimson has given 17-year-old driver Jett Turnbull, an exciting opportunity to partner Cya Art (Art Major), who he believes will give a great sight in the series.

Turnbull will be one of the youngest drivers to have ever contested an Inter Dominion and this past fortnight, the star Bathurst reinsman recorded his first metropolitan winner at Tabcorp Park Menangle when driving the Grimson-trained mare Illavabubbles.

He then backed that up and notched up his 200th career winner at Bathurst aboard Road To Recovery after a mere 18 months in the sulky.

“To be honest it has been quite crazy over the past few months with the winners coming thick and fast,” said Turnbull.

“But with those milestones behind me I am now looking forward to driving in my first Inter Dominion.

“Jason is a massive supporter of mine and has given me plenty of opportunities since I gained my A Grade licence.

“I am so grateful to him and the owners of Cya Art for showing faith in my ability, enabling me to drive their horse in such an important race this early in my career.”

Cya Art is currently quoted at $21 in the TAB fixed odds market for the series with his stablemate Curly James listed as the early favourite.

Talented reinsman Jack Callaghan will drive Curly James as he chases his first Inter Dominion success.

Grimson’s other two pacers aimed at the series are District Attorney and Nerano while the 31-year-old will be represented by Royal Dan in the trotting ranks.

Grimson won the 2021 Inter Dominion Pacing Championship with Boncel Benjamin and the 2022 edition with I Cast No Shadow.
