Jason Grimson looks to have unearthed yet another Grand Circuit contender after Swayzee (Rock N Roll Heaven) scored his fifth consecutive harness racing win in the Group 3 Mr Feelgood Pace at Albion Park tonight (Jul. 8).Ā
Grimson, who has prepared the past two Inter Dominion Grand Final winners, has imprinted the stable trademark speed and toughness on the five-year-old since taking over the training of Swayzee three months ago.Ā
Despite travelling three wide without cover for the last 900 metres of the race, Swayzee dug deep into his reserves of stamina to stave off the challengers in the home straight to score in a slick mile rate of 1:52.9 for the 2138 metre journey.Ā
Gun young reinsman Cameron Hart said Swayzee is a genuine chance in the Group 1 $400,000 Blacks A Fake in a fortnight.Ā
āHeās just a super strong horse and once he steps up to the 2600 metres he is just going to get better and better,ā Hart said.Ā
āIt worked out really well early as I was able to rail through and get a good spot on a really hot tempo, but he still had to be good as the last half was solid but he felt really strong on the line,ā he said.Ā
SWAYZEE REPLAY
Hart admitted he was quietly confident on the home turn.Ā
āI felt like I had a good kick once I turned for home, he was getting on one rein around the corner but I was happy to keep him balanced and to his credit he really dug in and kicked away in the straight,ā he said.Ā
