Grimson’s Group glory

After claiming the Group 3 feature at Menangle on Monday leading harness racing trainer Jason Grimson has his eyes set on tonight’s equivalent at that venue.

Grimson won the Kevin Newman FFA with Majestic Cruiser earlier in the week and tonight has Rocknroll Angel in the Group 3 Ladyship Stakes.

Grimson originally had three horses nominated for the feature, however, scratched Smooth Debate and The Stunning Nun on Thursday morning.

Grimson’s lone charge at the $30,000 event has won her last two starts and both races were at Group 3 level.

This success plus the strong record from the majority of his team this season has but Grimson at the top of New South Wales’ Metropolitan Trainers’ Premiership.

Grimson has a three-win lead over Belinda McCarthy in the tally with Grimson securing 30 metropolitan wins this term.

Grimson is currently fourth on the State Trainers’ Premiership with 68 wins.
