Gritty win qualifies Mach Dan for Miracle Mile

Mach Three gelding Mach Dan has automatically qualified for the Miracle Mile by going back to back in the Gr2 $100,000 Newcastle Mile tonight for harness racing trainer Emma Stuart.

Driven confidently by Mark Pitt, Mach Dan sat parked for most of the race and was too strong in the run to the line, winning by a neck from the fast finishing Tasty Delight who tracked the winner in the running line.

There was a sensation at the start when favoured runner B D Joe galloped as the gate was released losing his chance.

Mach Dan paced the mile in 1:51.1.
