Talented Warrawee Needy colt Uncle Shank, a three-year-old and one of his sire’s first crop, outfinished older, more experienced rivals in the Group 3 $30,000 The JC Mullen on the final night of Brisbane’s winter carnival.
The colt clocked a career-best 1:52.3 for the 1660 metres with the last 800 in 55.4 seconds.
Uncle Shank has won five of his seven starts to far and $40,429 in stakes.
Warrawee Needy was also represented by a pair of Canadian winners in High Flyin Jamie (1:56.6) and Frownie’s Miracle (1:59.4).
Fear The Dragon, the North America Cup winner, continues to churn out two-year-old winners with his first crop and has jumped into seventh position in the USA sire list. Recent winners have been the fillies Dragon Lady, who clocked 1:54 in a $40,000 Ohio Sire Stakes heat, Fear The Electra (1:56.6) and Gazitarena (1:59.2).
Fear The Dragon has sired 15 winners in 2:00 and five in 1:55 and his maiden crop has earned almost $350,000.
Million Dollar Cam produced winners in both hemispheres this week with Gina Tarantella scoring at Albion Park, May Cambo (Bathurst) and Sure Please, a 1:57 winner at Batavia Downs, New York.
American Flyer, a New Zealand-bred daughter of Tintin In America, posted her third success from seven starts on Australian soil when she led from end-to-end at 1:56.6 at the Menangle midweek meeting.
Warrawee Needy, Fear The Dragon, Million Dollar Cam and Tintin In America are members of the sire roster at Yirribee Pacing Stud, Wagga (NSW).
