When West Australian driver Gary Hall Jnr comes to Winton in November to drive in the World Drivers Championships he’ll be coming to the region that bred two outstanding horses, both of which gave him some of his biggest wins in harness racing.

Superstars Im Themightyquinn (Washington VC) and Chicago Bull (Bettor’s Delight) were born in Southland – Chicago Bull in Winton and Im Themightyquinn twenty minutes from Winton in Bayswater.

Chicago Bull was bred by Roger, Helen, John and Katrina Price. He was initially trained by Katrina and Roger and in the hands of Nathan Williamson he won his first race as a two year old on the Winton course in 2015.

After finishing seventh in the Two Year Old Emerald when he paced the mile in 1-53.7, he was sold to Western Australian clients of Gary Hall Snr.

From 113 starts he won 62 races including six Group Ones – The Freemantle Cup twice, WA Cup, Four Year Old Classic, Golden Nugget and WA Derby.

He earned $2,417,890.

His biggest winning streak was between January 2016 and September 2016 when he won ten races in a row.

Im Themightyquinn was bred by Dave Kennedy and from 111 starts won 58 races and earned $4,567,456.

His eleven Group One wins included two Interdominion Finals, three Freemantle Cups, three WA Cups, the Four Year Old Classic, the Cranbourne Cup and the Blacks A Fake.

Hall drove him in 45 of his 58 wins.

His biggest winning streak came between January 2012 and December 2012 when he won eleven races including a WA Cup, the Freemantle Cup and an Interdominion Final.

Im Themightyquinn is one of three Southern Bred Southern Reared horses in the top ten Group One winning pacers in Australia. The southerners are Smokin Up (12), Im Themightyquinn (11) and Washakie (8).

Forty two year old Hall has driven over 4,000 winners including 68 at Group One level. Im Themightyquinn and Chicago Bull are included in that list. His ten biggest winners are all New Zealand bred with the biggest being Mister Smartee (Always B Miki) in the $1,250,000 Nullarbor.
